Every now and then a story is told...
My only son goes off to war,
he's unafraid to live and die for a people who don't even know who he is,
and I understand now just what you did.
REFRAIN:
'Cause - This is my son, my only son,
and I give him up for a
people who don't
care that they're free at the cost of his life.
I understand now your sacrifice.
You gave us yours and I gave them mine.
Lord keep him safe he's my only child.
Please bring him back home.
This is my son.
I watched him grow into a man
and I must believe he's now in your hands,
Lord help me to keep in front of my mind
that you gave your Son so that mine would have life.
REFRAIN:
'Cause - This is my son, my only son,
and I give him up for a
people who don't
care that they're free at the cost of his life.
I understand now your sacrifice.
You gave us yours and I gave them mine.
Lord keep him safe he's my only child.
Please bring him back home.
This is my son.
This is my son, my only son
and I give him up for a people who don't
care that they're free at the cost of his life.
I understand now your sacrifice.

Life has many changes. Sometimes change happens even though you don't want it to while other times it's the change you want that eludes you.

Before the Rampage

I was reading a blog discussing Napoleon and what he wrote while in exile. He was making some comparisons between Jesus and himself. He made no claims but he did observe that while he had the power to command men while in their presence, Jesus had the ability to invite men to love Him even after he was gone. I was intrigued to find a response to this blog which stated
"Just like our prison population. Always AFTER the conquering, after the senseless blood shed, rape and murder do they find AND BELIEVE IN THE IMAGINARY MAN IN THE SKY. Wish they could “find” him before they start on their rampages."
Why do we have to get to the point of regret before we see what was missed?
I wonder how many times my community/village watched me as I made bad/poor choices hoping I would survive or amount to something? I wonder if we try to do too much on our own before we seek wisdom from those who have traveled the road before us? I have my "giants" who I look towards.

Trust begins with Risk...
Who moves first? The one with experience or the one we most often called "troubled".
I need to say "thank you" to some people...

Now I Get It!

I have spent that last couple of days reading some of the blog entries at Heartcoremethodist and it has been a real eyeopener. I am learning all kinds of new things.
I now know how Sex was originally conceived when I read this. (did I really write that?)
I read This and found out that church pews were created by... You'll have to read it to find out.
I also found out that according to this that some Methodists believe the Church of Christ are doing some things right. The comments connected to this information is almost as interesting as the entry.
I appreciate the humor and discussion that I found. Maybe after my boys are in bed I'll spend some more time here.
